Welcome to West of the Southern Alps.

The proximity of mountains to sea sculpts the West Coast of the South Island, from the mountainous slopes of the Southern Alps to the spectacular rugged coastline meeting the Tasman Sea. Here a diverse range of flora and fauna abound within this unique natural environment with interesting  places and stunning views.

This site is an on-going interest to share my enjoyment of photography in this unique landscape on the West Coast. If your just browsing the photos for interest or planning a visit or holiday here to the West Coast, I trust you will see what an amazing unique place we have here in New Zealand.
